ERIC CHAPELLE
Across the Water
(c) (p) 2010 Hamsa Music When you are alone with Nature you can be as you are without the farfetched pattern of behavior that is established in human societies. You can feel your own inner self which is beautiful and at the same time wild. You are able to sense how our world is rich and what a precious divine gift it is to be here. And your heart is filled with love and tenderness. Twelve years passed from the issue of Eric Chapelle’s first album “Our Time”. And this long wait was worth it. The new release “Across the Water” of this renowned pianist is a very bright work. Its music easily flows in your mind with the first chords of the composition “Every Wish” when the passionate cello of Julia Cory combines with the meditative piano of Eric Chapelle. And then you can fully enjoy the beauty which is present in the refined tunes of “Across the Water”. In general, the cello of Julia Cory is simply perfect. It is intertwined with the piano of Eric Chapelle into a single whole. But the composer isn’t satisfied by this effect only. He goes deeper and we can hear the ambient motifs and interesting sound effects on the composition “Rainmaker”, ethnic percussions on the “Evora Amore” and aerial chorals on the majestic “Remembrance”. This composition in my opinion is the most powerful on the album. The aforesaid doesn’t fully describe “Across the Water”. The main characteristic of the music by Eric Chapelle is when you listen to it you realize that your true essence is love.
