Eric Chapelle 2010
60 minutes Pianist and keyboardist Eric Chapelle launches his second work under the title Across The Water, a pleasant mix of acoustic and electronic sounds that create for an hour, a pleasant, relaxed, perfect for reflection or rest. Inspired by a summer while Eric attended the Maine Island Norton Residency Program, Across the Water is the sweet voice of nature, where the sound of rain, running water or the whistling of the wind that formed the symphony of that place. The passage that opens the album, "Every Wish", is profoundly beautiful. The cellist Julia Cory, is the leading voice of this theme, accompanied for delicate high notes by Eric's piano and a set of strings that create a mysterious background music. One piece with a highly emotion charged, where melancholy and nostalgia come together for afflict the soul. It's amazing the feelings conveyed by this piece. An affectionate and warm piano solo gives life to "First Kiss". Eric plays a melody that wraps the listener in a beautiful bewilderment. They are the first instants of the expected and desired moment. The melody in the first part is slow, with a subtle hint of indecision, until it becomes passionate for later, go down to a state of relaxation. Eric has captured that moment perfectly. One of my favourites!. "Straight Ahead" has a slightly mischievous character. One piece fully electronic keyboard which gives life to an optimistic and happy melody that is repeated from beginning to end. A track full of good vibrations!. Deep is the longest track on the album, "Soft Landing". Again, Cory's cello is accompanied by Eric's piano and strings, creating a piece where the nostalgic longing mixed with pain. A new destination and a place unknown to get used. A track immensely depressed, but endowed with great beauty. Another of my favourites!. Brief but elegant "MoPac" mix the piano with synthesizers. Eric launches high notes of piano to the air that come together in harmony with an electronic sound that comes and goes. A relaxing and hypnotic composition that plunges us into positive dreams. "For Edna" is synonymous with pain. For the gentle strokes of chords played on piano, is joined by a brilliant synth pad that appears at times to accentuate the sadness and the pain, which already possesses the melody that gives life to the hands of Eric on piano . The piece is extremely wound, not giving one iota of happiness. A sadness that lays bare the feelings of the listener. With Norton Island "comes the joy. A solo piano optimism that invades to the listener with a graceful melody of sweet and gentle character. A lovely piece that manages to scare away those negative thoughts and creating a state of peace. Another of my favourites!. In "Water Theme" a sound of synthesizer is copied by piano. Eric continues his pace with a repetitive melody accompanied by strings in the background, at its zenith, it becomes compelling and powerful without startle the listener. A theme that flows smoothly, as if the motion of the tides would set the tempo, perfect and relaxed, to this lovely piece. I love it. The track of title is simply amazing, awesome. The piano plays chords that bind John's Inmon guitar and Dwan's cello. these latter give life to one of the most exciting and beautiful melodies of this work. The piano, pass to a second plane, accompanying, almost imperceptible, the melody that draws the guitar and cello. My favourite is undoubtedly, powerful and emotional in nature. A masterpiece!. Wow!. "Rainmaker" starts, it could not be otherwise, with the sound of rain. Synth pads create a melody with a delicacy so extreme as to relax the most restless hearts. Everyone knows the soothing power of the rain, Eric takes advantage of this to bring to life the most soothing piece of the album, blending the beautiful sounds of synthesizers with sweet melodies. A Time to Rest!. An ethnic percussion opens "Amore Evora. With oriental airs, the piano is accompanied by several synth that play the main melody, established in the left channel, while the right channel, plays piano chord progressions, almost imperceptible. Again, a hypnotic melody that holds great beauty. "Remembrance" is passionate and nostalgic, the piano, this time is accompanied by a synthesizer of heavenly voices, a children's choir that follow the melody played by Eric's right hand at the piano. A theme that we return to the unique moments that one day we live, and though it is in our own mind, we will continue enjoying. Another of my favourites!. "Spaghetti Eastern" has a guitar with a special synthesized sound. A gentle percussion, almost negligible, marks the pace of synthesizers that draw alongside the main guitar melody. A piece with a puzzling melody, but I love it. Another of my favourites is "Catching a Glimpse of You." A special piano solo, possibly the most sensitive and moving piano throughout the album, with an amazing emotional charge that leaves the listener perplex. A piece inspired, surely, to the contemplation of beauty impossible to believe, superhuman. A piano amazing!. "Tide Pool." In occasions nervous and sometimes delicate. A piece that reflects the feelings the sea wakes up in Eric. With blows chord, Eric marks a powerful tone and turns the track of a more soft and delicate. A delight!. "Wild Iris." Like a breath of wind that comes and goes, the melody flows free, since improvised. With great gentleness, Eric gives life to another piece relaxing, quiet. One track that immerses the listener in the most absolute calm. Perfect ending for the album!. What delicacy!. Highly recommended, Across The Water is the latest release of Eric Chapelle. A highly anticipated CD by all, as they have spent more than ten years since his first release in 98, Our Time. Across The Water is the perfect background music to reach a state of absolute relaxation, meditation, or simply to listen to while performing any task such as studying, reading, writing ... Mixing acoustic sounds with synthesizers make it very desirable to listen with headphones in a deep listening, showing very pleasant surprises to the ear.
